This porter is loaded with dark roasted and crystal malts to give a delicious flavour and crisp yet full bodied mouthfeel. (It might surprise you with a full body given the lower ABV.) It still has moderate residual sweetness and light bitterness to make for a highly drinkable beer. Aged in a mix of bourbon, rum and rye barrels.
Crystal malt sweetness balances the roast so well, and the body is surprisingly hefty for something this easy to drink. I cracked one open expecting a light session beer and ended up savoring it like a much bigger porter.
The dark roasted malts really come through in every sip—rich and smooth without being heavy. I was skeptical about the lower ABV, but the crisp body keeps it satisfying from first pour to last.
That full-bodied mouthfeel at such a low ABV is what got me—it drinks way heavier than it should, in the best way. The dark roasted malts come through nicely without any harsh bite, and it finishes surprisingly crisp.
