This is a kettle sour beer that is mostly light in flavour but dark in colour through the addition of a small amount of dark malt. It is flavoured with black currants, to add to the black colour and pastry-fied with lactose and vanilla.
The dark pour threw me off at first, but the light body is exactly what I needed on a warm evening. That black currant tang hits just enough to keep every sip interesting without being puckering.
The dark color had me expecting something heavy, but it’s surprisingly crisp and easy to sip. The black currants give it a nice tart kick without overpowering the light body, and it finishes clean. A solid pick for a warm evening.
The black currants come through perfectly—tart enough to wake up your palate but still smooth and easy to sip. The dark malt gives it that rich, almost mysterious look, yet it drinks surprisingly light. Grabbed a second four-pack before I even finished the first.
