Come suggerisce il nome, il rum è stato infine invecchiato in botti di birra usate della popolare birra Vanilla Shake di Mikkeller, le cui botti sprigionano note di vaniglia, caffè e malto derivanti dal periodo di maturazione della birra. In precedenza, il rum a base di melassa è stato invecchiato in botti di bourbon usate nel clima tropicale del Guatemala.
