Bought a few bottles to cellar and cracked one open early — the expressive palate is everything you'd want from a proper Belgian ale. Deep ruby in the glass, rich and complex, and it's still drinking beautifully before the 11/22 date.
That deep ruby color is exactly what I picture when I think of a proper Dubbel, and the flavor is rich without being heavy. Poured one last night and it was gone before dinner was even on the table.
The malt sweetness comes through so clean with that classic dark fruit hint, and the carbonation keeps it lively without being sharp. Poured it into a chalice and the head lingered for ages. This is exactly what a Dubbel should taste like, and I'm glad I grabbed a few before the expiry.
