Som navnet antyder, er rommen til sidst lagret på brugte ølfade fra Mikkellers populære øl, Vanilla Shake, hvis fade udstråler vanilje-, kaffe- og maltnoter fra øllens lagringstid. Tidligere har rommen baseret på melasse været lagret på brugte bourbonfade i Guatemalas tropiske klima.
