#14 DIPA continues our experimental series — with juicy, tropical and slightly floral notes. This time around, the brewers wanted to see what a blend of wheat and rice would do for the body and drinkability of the beer, and they succeeded in yet another winner that's easy to sip on.
The wheat and rice combo really does something interesting for the mouthfeel—it's lighter than most double IPAs but still packs that juicy, tropical punch. Definitely a solid pick for a hot evening when you want something hoppy without feeling weighed down.
Opened one after mowing the lawn and the tropical notes hit right away, with a soft floral edge that kept it interesting. The wheat and rice blend gives it a surprisingly smooth body that goes down easy for a DIPA. Definitely grabbing another four-pack before this series rotates out.
The wheat and rice blend really does something interesting here—the body feels lighter and almost silky, which makes the juicy hop notes pop without any heaviness. Easy to keep coming back to, and the floral side shows up more as it warms.
